Celebrate Memorial Day weekend at Battleship Cove!

We know that Memorial Day weekend is filled with parades and cookouts, but if you have any extra time this weekend, take a couple of hours to stop by the Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA.

This weekend admission is free for all US Veterans and active duty members from 9:00 through 5:00 PM. Even if you don’t have a Vet in your family, taking a moment to stop by to thank all of the brave men and women who gave their time to serving our country is a fantastic way to spend Memorial Day Weekend!

If you have a little bit more time on your hands, sign up for Nautical Nights Family Overnight on May 27th! For just $65.00 per person, you’ll get to spend a once in a lifetime experience with your family. Guests will enjoy “overnight accommodations, all-day admission, two meals and nautical themed activities.” Reservations are required and can be made by calling 508-678-1100 ext. 101/102 and all participants must be at least 6 years of age.

If spending a night aboard a Battleship isn’t up your alley, then maybe consider stopping in to simply observe the Memorial Day Ceremony with your family. On May 29th “remember, honor and celebrate those who gave their lives to ensure the freedoms,” with a “official commemoration ceremony with keynote speaker, Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Tracy, from the Naval War College.”

At 12:00 PM experience a traditional military observance, honoring the fallen and their families with the raising of the American Flag and the 21-Gun Salute. This ceremony is open to the public free of charge.

While aboard the ship for the Memorial Day ceremonies, check out all of the museum’s exhibits including “A Sailor’s Life,” “USS Massachusetts BB59,” “USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. DD850” to name a few!
