Again with the crates! I guess I am just falling in love with the simplicity of the crates. This simple storage unit is made with crates and some paint. Then all you have to do is rearrange the crates however you want and you suddenly have a cute, easy and inexpensive place to put your shoes.

As homeowners start to think about preparing their house to sell, many wonder what improvements they can make to increase the value of their homes. Other homeowners are always concerned about whether or not a home improvement will actually improve the value. Below we have a list of common home improvement projects and whether they are worth it or just a waste!

Modernizing your kitchen.

Worth it.

You’re probably thinking about how this is common sense, but it never hurts to be reminded! Kitchens are the focal point of the home, therefore renovating the kitchen is always worth it. Bathrooms and kitchens sell homes, so if you would like a quick sell, make sure the kitchen is up to date!

Inground pool or hot tub.

Waste.

… At least not in New England. The problem with pools is that in most markets they are not considered a necessity, they are simply an insurance burden and safety concern. If you are adding the pool for your enjoyment, then go right ahead! But, if you are simply looking for a way to bring value to your home, there are a lot better ways to spend that money.

Updating your bathroom.

Worth it.

As I stated earlier, Bathrooms and Kitchens sell homes. A brand new beautiful shower, fresh paint, and modern flooring will bring your house to the next level!

An Addition.

Waste.

If you are looking for an immediate return on your investment, then this is not it! You should be adding an addition because you don’t want to move or because it is the best financial decision for you, not because you want to make a quick extra buck when you sell your current home.

Landscaping Improvements.

Worth it.

Let your green thumb run ramp-id if you want to add value to your home in a quick and inexpensive way! A beautiful landscape will always catch the eyes of buyers, so investing in flowers and mulch can go a long way when it comes to quickly selling your home!

Over the weekend I took a trip to the HomeGoods in Seekonk and spent hours scouring the store. I had a cart full of things when I finished making my way through every aisle, and then I realized that I had no room in my tiny apartment to put all of the things I had so I promptly put it back. Before I removed things from my cart though, I took pictures of what I believed to be musts for your home, specifically in the kitchen.

I fell in love with this crate. I could just imagine it in my future farm kitchen someday with fresh fruit piled in it. There is something so beautiful and natural about the idea of having a farm fresh crate filled with garden fresh fruits and veggies from my backyard. It’s a perfect way bring the farm into your farm kitchen.

Another great rustic piece to add to your kitchen is this old time “EAT” sign. The chipping paint and that white wooden planks give it the perfect “pulled this out of the barn” look. The even better part? If you don’t want to pay the $19 price tag, then you can easily make something similar yourself.

Guess what? More chipped paint! This chalkboard is small enough to hang pretty much anywhere in your kitchen. Want to keep a list of things you need your husband to pick up at the store? Write it there. Want to post what you’re going to make for dinner so that your kids stop asking? Write it on the board. It’s both practical and and pretty, which is a perfect for any mother’s kitchen.

This one here is one of the most brilliant things I’ve seen in a while. Instead of keeping old plastic containers to store dog food in your kitchen, why not get a shiny tin made specifically for the food. This is a cute way to make your dog’s things a part of your decor, instead of hiding it from your houseguests.

Lastly, this M.C. Henry Whiskey bottle that would be the perfect centerpiece on any farmhouse table. Put some flowers you just picked from the garden in this bottle like it’s a vase, or pair it with other bottles for a unique country centerpiece.

Kids are messy. No matter how hard you try, if you have kiddos running around it is nearly impossible to keep the place clean. This is why storage is a must. And storage that appeals to your kids will give them even more of a reason to want to clean up! Below we have five easy storage ideas that can get even the fussiest tot excited to clean. DIY Library Corner

Have a child who loves to read? Or maybe you just want to instill the value of reading at a young age? Either way a library corner is the perfect way to keep all of the books organized. All you need is a free corner in your child's room or playroom, vinyl rain gutters, end caps, and wood screws.

Cut the vinyl to size, add the end caps so your kiddies don't hurt themselves on the sharp corners, and hang the gutters at kid level so they can pick the books out themselves.

Add a colorful beanbag chair or a few small seats for your children and you have a perfect place to store all of their books.

For more information on materials and steps go to Cheerios & Lattes Lego Storage and Play Table

Have you ever stepped on a Lego? If not then you have been blessed with not feeling one of the most annoyingly painful feelings in the world. If you are sick and tired of finding Legos all around your house, consider making this inexpensive Lego Storage Table.

The table simply made of 3 plastic draws, a 4 foot board, and a couple of cute stools. Adhere to board to two of the plastic draws, and keep the third loose so you can pull it in and out when the kids use the table.

To stay even more organized, you can organize each draw with specific colored Legos.

It is such an easy way to keep all of the Legos in one place, plus kids your kids will love having a place to build their Legos without being moved. It's a win-win!

For more information on this play table go to Our Wee Family. Animal Storage Jars

When you have small children, art supplies are everywhere. With animal storage jars, your kids will want to put their crayons and colored pencils back where they belong.

All you need are different sized mason jars, those animal figurines you have laying around the house, a hot glue gun (or super glue) and some paint.

Paint the figurines and the jar lids solid bright colors and then simply glue the animal to the lid and voilà!

The best part is that this project is easy enough to do with your own little helper, letting it double as a fun activity to do on a winter's day!

Sick and tired of pulling out a game on family game night just to find that some of the pieces are missing? Then this is for you! All you need are 1 x 4 wood boards, a table saw, a miter saw, spray paint, 3m sticky back hooks, and some nails/staples.
